Falls represent a significant risk for occupational injuries and fatalities across various professions. In this virtual safety training module, participants assume the role of a new employee tasked with safely accessing a 20-foot elevated landing. It is essential to align the ladder against the building correctly to ensure optimal strength and stability, following OSHA’s guidelines for height and pitch when utilizing portable ladders.

This training scenario focuses on the variable of ladder pitch, specified in degrees:

• 55 degrees: When positioned at this angle, the ladder exhibits no overhang, with the top barely making contact with the upper edge of the second level.
• 75.5 degrees: At this steeper pitch, the ladder extends approximately 3 feet above the second level, resulting in a significant overhang.

Participants will have the opportunity to examine and understand the consequences stemming from each ladder positioning choice, allowing for informed decisions regarding safety practices in the workplace.
